Breaking Djokovic’s Dominance, Carlos Alcaraz Wins Wimbledon 2023

– Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz managed to break Novak Djokovic’s toughness to win the 2023 Wimbledon title. Alcaraz successfully scored a victory with a score of 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in the final match strictly at Center Court, Monday (17/7/2023) WIB.

This victory brought Alcaraz his first Wimbledon title. This result also made him survive as the world number one tennis player.

“Winning my second Grand Slam at Wimbledon is really very special for me, a dream come true,” said Alcaraz.

“I’m very happy to be back after the first set. Facing Novak, playing at a great level at the end of the match, it was a very extraordinary experience for me,” he continued.

Alcaraz was able to show his toughness as the youngest Wimbledon finalist since 2006 and the youngest winner since 1986.

Meanwhile, despite the loss, Djokovic is still the male tennis player with the most Grand Slam wins and is only one title away from equaling Margaret Court’s record of 24 titles.

He had won the previous four Wimbledons. With the loss on Center Court, it was Djokovic’s first defeat there since the 2013 final when Alcaraz was just 10 years old.

Djokovic praised Alcaraz’s ability to adapt to the grass court surface and serve to win the game.

“Obviously you never like to lose a game like this but I guess when all the emotions are done I still have to be very grateful for winning a lot of tight, tight matches here,” he said.
