Ten Hag Removing Harry Maguire as United Captain

– Manchester United (MU) defender Harry Maguire announced that coach Erik Ten Hag has removed the captain’s armband he bears. This announcement was made by Maguire on his official social media account.

“After discussing with the coach today, he told me that I would change the team captain,” Maguire wrote on his social media account, quoted on Sunday (17/7/2023).

Maguire was deeply disappointed by Ten Hag’s decision.

“The coach explained the reasons to me and while I am personally very disappointed,” he wrote.

In the upload, Maguire showed off how he lifted the 2022/2023 Carabao League Cup. He also expressed his gratitude to the fans and former Man United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who first named him captain.

“I want to say a huge thank you to the Manchester United fans for all their brilliant support while I was wearing the captain’s armband. Since the first day I took over in this role, three and a half years ago, it has been a huge honor to lead Manchester United and one of the proudest moments of my career to date,” he said.

Maguire insists he has done all he can to help United achieve success. Even though he was disappointed with the removal of the captain’s armband, Maguire emphasized that he would always fully support his replacement.
