AVC Challenge Cup: Face Giant Players, Game Variety Is The Key to Victory

The Indonesian men’s volleyball team will face Kazakhstan in the top 12 round of the AVC Challenge Cup in Taiwan, Wednesday (12/7/2023). According to the Manager of the Indonesian National Team, Loudry Maspaitella, facing a giant player like Kazakhstan, Indonesia must apply a variety of games.

Loudry said, during the era when he was still actively playing, the average Kazakh player was above 200 cm. However, currently there are those who are 190 cm tall.

“Indeed, compared to the era when I played before, Kazakhstan’s players are now shorter, but on average they are still taller and bigger than us. Their bodies are like giants. Big up, white people. The block is strong,” said the former national store clerk in the 1990-2000s era, Tuesday (11/7/2023).

Loudry said it was difficult to break through the blocks of tall and muscular players, therefore Indonesian players had to make variations, avoiding blocks. “The ball has to be passed and cleared with a block. Reception of the first ball must be good, so the striker can make variations,” said the former national team striker.

According to Loudry, currently the Indonesian players are fit and ready to fight.

“All in good condition. Ready for combat, and we are not afraid to face Kazakhstan. We are optimistic about them,” he said.

According to him, the advantage of big players is strong power, but smaller Indonesia wins in flexibility.
