Beat PSS, Barito Putera Leads League 1 Standings

– Barito Putera won the top spot in the Indonesian League 1 standings after defeating PSS Sleman with a convincing score of 3-1 in the third match at Demang Lehman Stadium, Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan, Friday (14/7/2023).

Barito Putera appeared confident from the first minute and continued to threaten PSS Sleman’s defense. However, the ball still deviated far from the opponent’s goal.

“This match is proof of the team’s good performance and our ability to control the game,” said Barito Putera’s coach, Rahmad Darmawan, in Banjarbaru after the match.

Rahmad Darmawan, who is familiarly called Coach RD, praised the performance of his troops after winning three full points in the third match of League 1. In the previous game, the team from South Kalimantan only got one point when they visited Persebaya Surabaya.

“All players work together and take the initiative in seizing the ball from the opposing team,” added RD.

He also mentioned that his team lost control of the game a little when the score was even in the first half.

In that match, the hosts managed to lead 1-0 in the 17th minute through Bayu Pradana’s goal. Frendi Saputra, who was in the PSS Sleman penalty box, did not waste this opportunity and immediately fired a shot which tore into the opponent’s goal.

PSS Sleman tried to provide resistance and tried to trouble Barito Putera’s defense, and finally managed to equalize at 1-1 in the 27th minute through a goal from Kei Sano. This draw score lasted until the first half ended.

In the second half, Barito Putra continued to appear confident and managed to win several duels to win the ball on the field.

The Barito Putera players often disturbed the opponent’s defense, and in the seventh minute of the second half, Murilo Mendes succeeded in bringing his team to a 2-1 lead.

PSS Sleman tried to reply, but all their efforts were thwarted by the strong defense of the host.

The visitors had two good chances in extra time in the second half, but unfortunately none of these opportunities were able to shake the goal guarded by Ega Rizky Pramana.

Ega was outstanding and showed his best performance in this second home appearance.

Until the second half’s long whistle sounded, Barito Putera managed to secure three points and top the Liga 1 standings.
