Badminton AJC 2023: Zidane/Kleopas Become the Only Indonesian Men’s Doubles to the Quarterfinals

– Zidane Attauba Efendi/Kleopas Binar Putra Prakoso is the only Indonesian representative in the men’s doubles to advance to the quarter-finals of the 2023 BNI Badminton Asia Junior Championships (AJC) tournament.

Competing at the Amongraga Sports Hall, Yogyakarta, Friday (14/7/2023), Zidane/Kleopas won with a score of 21-19, 21-13 over the United Arab Emirates pair, Dev Ayyappan/Dhiren Ayyappan.

In this match, Zidane/Kleopas admitted that they were tense considering that some of their colleagues had already been hampered by their steps.

Not surprisingly, in the first game, Zidane/Kleopas had to fight hard and win with a score of 21-19. Only in the second game was relatively easier and finally won with a score of 21-13.

“I was nervous about this match because we were up against the fifth seeded pair. We also already know that some of our comrades died earlier. It also affects our game, “Zidane said.

With this result, Zidane/Kleopas met the Malaysian pair, Bryan Jeremy Goonting/Low Han Chen.

In the previous match, the pair from the neighboring country won over China’s men’s doubles, Chen Zhe Han/Lin Xian Yi with a score of 21-12, 21-18 and qualified for the quarter-finals.

The quarter-finals of the Badminton AJC 2023 tournament are planned to be held at the Amongraga Sports Hall, Yogyakarta, Friday (14/7/2023) starting at 18.30 WIB.

“We want to play our best in the quarter-finals later. As much as possible we want to bring out the best form of play in the quarter-finals,” added Zidane.

Zidane Attauba Efendi/Kleopas Binar Putra Prakoso’s move was not followed by Muhammad Al Farizi/Nikolaus Joaquin and Anselmus Breagit Fredy Prasetya/Pulung Ramadhan.

Farizi/Joaquin stalled after surrendering to the Chinese men’s doubles, Chen Yong Rui/Hu Ken Yuan with an identical score of 16-21, 16-21.
