League 1: 10 PSM Players Defeat Host Persikabo

– PSM Makassar, who appeared with 10 players, defeated the host Persikabo 1973 with a score of 1-0 in the third week of the Indonesian 1st League at the Pakansari Stadium, Bogor Regency, Friday (14/7/2023).

PSM Makassar won thanks to a single goal scored by Wiljan Pluim. The Dutchman scored the only goal of the game in the second half.

With this victory, PSM Makassar managed to climb to seventh place in the 2023/2024 Liga 1 standings with a total of four points, while Persikabo 1973 is still stuck in 16th place with a collection of one point.

In the first half, PSM had a chance through Yuran Fernandes’ header, but the ball was still wide of Persikabo’s goal.

Then PSM scored a goal through Wiljan Pluim’s kick, but the goal was disallowed by the referee because Yakob Sayuri was stuck in a position off side previously.

Persikabo then tried to press and got a golden opportunity after a cross from Pedrinho which was met with a header by Rafael Conrado, but PSM goalkeeper Reza Arya Pratama managed to block the header.

The squad coached by Aidil Sharin Sahak also got a chance through wing striker Jose Varela after he managed to escape from position off side, but the kick from the player from Cape Verde was still blocked by Reza Arya. The 0-0 score lasted until the end of the first half.

In the second half, PSM was forced to play with 10 players after Dzaky Asraf received a second yellow card for a foul on Varela in the 66th minute.

Despite playing with 10 players, PSM continued to put pressure on Persikabo’s defense, including Wiljan Pluim’s shot which goalkeeper Syahrul Trisna managed to push over.

Finally, the team coached by Bernardo Tavares managed to take the lead through a goal scored by Pluim in the 75th minute.

The goal came from a corner kick which was executed by Yance Sayuri, and Pluim managed to score a header that Syahrul couldn’t reach so the score changed to 1-0.
