CL-star Courtois – Thibaut Courtois is not under the bar when Belgium takes on the Dutch national team in Brussels on Friday. The thirty-year-old goalkeeper is struggling with a pubic injury and will also miss the matches with Wales and Poland.

Courtois has been suffering from the injury for some time and could play, but does not want to take any risks with a view to the upcoming season and the World Cup in Qatar (November and December).

The goalkeeper reported a day later than the rest of the selection to the national team of Belgium, because he first attended the wedding of his brother. After a medical check and a conversation with national coach Roberto Martínez, a rest period was then chosen.

Courtois has been first choice with the Belgians since 2014 and has played 94 international matches so far. Last Saturday, the Belgian was the star of Real Madrid with nine saves during the champions league final against Liverpool (0-1).

Belgium is in group D of the Nations League with the Netherlands, Poland and Wales. In the next two weeks, the ‘Red Devils’ will play four international matches.

Starting Friday 3 June against the Netherlands and then against Poland (Monday 6 June), Wales (Friday 10 June) and again Poland (Monday 13 June).
