Google cloud services – Government agencies can continue to use the Google Workspace cloud service. Google Cloud has promised the central government to make adjustments that solve risks in the field of privacy and transparency.

Google Cloud and Minister Dilan Yesilgöz-Zegerius (Justice and Security) announce that they have reached an agreement that allows Google Workspace to continue to be used by government agencies. Programs such as Docs, Meets and Chat are part of Workspace.

It is not known which privacy adjustments are involved. However, the minister writes that compliance with the promised changes is monitored.

It is also constantly monitored whether Google Cloud still complies with European privacy rules.

The Ministry of Justice and Security announced last year that government agencies would not use Google Workspace as long as the service does not comply with privacy legislation.

Research showed that personal data were processed unlawfully when using Workspace.

Google already reached an agreement with educational institutions last year about the use of Google services at Dutch schools.
