Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi and the Red Sparks team will play the round playoffs or the semifinals of the South Korean Volleyball League for the 2023/2024 season starting March 22 2024. This match presents a challenge for Megawati because it coincides with the Ramadan fast.

The Red Sparks team actually still has two more matches remaining against AI Peppers and IBK Altos before the semifinals begin. However, because these two matches have not affected the position of the team that passes the round playoffs, Megawati will likely be benched to give back-up players the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the Korean Volleyball League. As the team's mainstay, Megawati will be fielded again in the semifinals on March 22 2024.

Quoted from the Red Sparks YouTube channel, Tuesday (12/4/2024), Megawati talked about her plans to fast in the midst of intense competition. It is possible that Megawati will not fast on match day and will make up for it on another day.

In a week, the Red Sparks team will play around two matches. Outside of match days, Megawati will continue to fast, even though she has to undergo western training.

“If it's a holiday (no match), maybe I can fast. If it's during a match then I have to play. Maybe I'll make up for it (fasting) another day,” said Megawati.

Red Sparks will still be waiting for their opponent in the semifinals between the Pink Spiders or Suwon Hyundai E&C Hillstate. With two games remaining, it is likely that the Red Sparks will play the Pink Spiders.

On the other hand, Red Sparks captain Lee So-young is also uncertain about appearing after suffering an ankle injury last week. From the results of the medical team's examination, two of his legs were torn, so it will take time for him to return to the field. However, Lee So-young's determination is very strong to be able to help the Red Sparks team in the semifinals which they have been waiting for for seven years.

“He came back (from a previous injury) earlier than everyone expected after undergoing shoulder surgery. This time, he also has a strong desire to try again,” said a Red Sparks representative.
