Donald Trump admits he enjoys crypto despite running out

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has profited from many crypto projects over the past few years and has accepted crypto as payment. But lately, his crypto portfolio has experienced a decline and is currently worth millions of dollars less than it was at the start of this year.

Trump started earning crypto as royalties from the non-fungible token (NFT) collection Trump Digital Trading Cards, which used his name to sell 45,000 NFTs for USD 99 each. Donald Trump has earned more than 1,700 Ethereum (ETH) from the project. He sold 1,075 tokens at the end of 2023 to generate revenue of USD 2.4 million.

Launch Coindesk, Wednesday (1/5/2024), Trump recently released a collection of 1,000 sneakers at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia. The shoes, which were released at a price of USD 399 per pair, sold quickly.

“Sometimes we let people pay via Bitcoin… it's an additional form of currency… so many (sneakers) are paid for with… cryptocurrency… I make money with it, I also have fun with it. Crazy new currency, that's what I call it. “This is a crazy new currency, whether it's Bitcoin or something else,” Trump said.

One that made Trump millions of dollars was MAGA Coin (TRUMP). The token, which was released last August, has risen from less than USD 0.01 at launch to an all-time high (ATH) of over USD 11.50. At launch, the project's creators awarded Trump 580,000 tokens, which at the time were only worth a few thousand dollars. At TRUMP's highest position, the position was worth more than USD 6.7 million.
