Donny Van de Beek Calls Goal against Lyon the Biggest Moment in His Career

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Donny van de Beek, a Manchester United player, was very happy for his goal against Olympique Lyon in a pre-season match at Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh, Scotland, on Wednesday (19/7/2023). Van de Beek called this goal the greatest moment of his career.

Van de Beek’s happiness cannot be hidden, given that this is his first appearance since picking up a knee injury which sidelined him for a considerable amount of time against AFC Bournemouth in January 2023.

The goal scored by Van de Beek came via a volley after receiving a cross from Daniel Gore in the 49th minute.

“It’s great, my first game after six months out. To be back on the pitch is a miracle. Of course, scoring goals is also very good, but that’s not the main thing; it’s a bonus,” said the Dutchman.

According to Van de Beek, he had been waiting for this moment for a long time. Even though it happened only in a friendly match, but this was a big moment in his career.

Apart from that, the former Ajax Amsterdam player also shared about his difficult times during his recovery from injury.

“After sustaining an injury like that, needless to say how difficult it was mentally for me and my family,” said Van de Beek.

Despite being out for six months, the 26-year-old midfielder has not lost his way. In fact, he feels his recovery from injury has made him mentally stronger.

“Easier said than done, but in the end, it makes you stronger mentally because you realize when you play every day, you don’t want to have moments like that. But when they do, you realize how much you love football,” he added.
