Erick said, FIFA will leave for Indonesia on July 28 2023. “The plan is that if there are no changes they will come around July 28, but we will wait because this is only initial information,” said Erick in a press conference, Thursday (20/7/2023).

PSSI itself has proposed eight stadiums to FIFA for the 2023 U-17 World Cup in Indonesia. The stadiums proposed to FIFA by PSSI are Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (Jakarta), Jakabaring Stadium (Palembang), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (Bandung), Manahan Stadium (Solo), Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (Surabaya), and Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium (Bali).

These six stadiums were previously prepared for the U-20 World Cup which has been canceled in Indonesia. Then the other two proposed stadiums are the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and Pakansari Stadium.

Apart from the field, FIFA will also review other aspects when it arrives in Indonesia. “They will focus on pitch, field. then accommodation, venue management i.e. their access to value, team service so how are the logistics of moving places in the rounds. Hopefully there will be no changes on July 28,” said Erick.

Later, FIFA will first conduct a review in Jakarta. The Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) is in the spotlight because the magnificent stadium is not yet FIFA standard, partly due to the grass factor.

The government will also try to improve JIS for the U-17 World Cup on 10 November-2 December 2023.
