Yes, the blue ticks, which are only available to X Premium users, are distributed to users with certain criteria for the number of followers.

Quoting iMore, Friday (5/4/2024), the blue tick feature in X Premium is only shared with Elon Musk's social media users with a number of verified followers of more than 2,500.

Meanwhile, users with a number of verified followers of 5,000 will get X Premium Plus.

However, until now people who got free blue ticks have complained about Elon Musk's actions. Some questioned whether there was a way to reject the offer.

While others are worried that other X users will think they are willing to pay to the platform formerly known as Twitter just to get a blue tick.

Previously, X Twitter only gave Premium blue ticks for free to users with a large number of followers (minimum in the range of millions).
