Ester Wins, Indonesia Defeats Thailand 3-0 in Uber Cup Quarter-Finals

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Indonesia beat Thailand with a score of 3-0 in the Uber Cup quarter-finals after Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo beat Supanida Katethong, in Chengdu, Friday (3/5/2024).

In a match at the Hi-Tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium, Chengdu, China, Ester managed to beat Katethong, 19-21, 21-19, and 21-19. Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo's younger sister won after fighting for quite a long time, 1 hour and 23 minute.

Katethong managed to take the lead in the match in the first game. At the start of the match he was ahead with a score of 7-3. However, Ester never gave up so the score was tied at 8-8.

The scores were also tied again at 9-9 and 12-12. However, since then Katethong has been able to continue to lead and finish the first game with 21-19.

Entering the second game, Ester managed to get up. Katethong actually had a 3-1 lead at the start of the match. However, thanks to his attacking play and careful control of the ball, Ester then equalized and took the lead.

He succeeded in winning 11-7 so there was an interval. Ester's journey to finish the second game was not smooth. He did go far to reach 15-7. However, Katethong managed to equalize so the score was 16-16 after Ester made many of her own mistakes.

After two draws, Ester was then able to control the match. He also won 21-19 in the second set.

In the third set there were three draws, namely at 1-1, 3-3 and 4-4. Ester then succeeded with the smashes she launched and continued to lead. Katethong had won four points in a row and reduced the deficit to 8-10.

However, Ester then got back up and led 11-8 so there was an interval. Katethong never gives up. The 16th ranked player then managed to reduce the deficit to just one point at 13-14.

Ester was able to maintain her lead and win 21-19 over Katethong, Indonesia also won 3-0 over Thailand.

Previously, Indonesia led 2-0 after Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and the doubles pair of Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti won.

In this first match, Gregoria beat Thailand's representative Ratchanok Intanon in two straight games 22-20 and 21-18. Gregoria managed to overcome his opponent in 50 minutes.
