Failed in the AVC Challenge Cup, Hendra wants to win the SEA V League in Sentul

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – After last week’s failure at the AVC Challenge Cup in Taiwan, national volleyball player, Hendra Kurniawan is pursuing a title in the SEA V League competition which will be held in Sentul on 21-23 July 2023.

Before appearing in the SEA V League in Sentul, Hendra was part of the national team which suffered a bitter 2-3 defeat to Thailand in the quarter-finals of the 2023 AVC Challenge Cup. “In this competition, our target is to win 1st place, because this is an event in Southeast Asia. ,” said Hendra in Jakarta, Monday (17/7/2023).

Hendra and his colleagues on the national team have studied the weaknesses and strengths of the opponents they will face in the 2023 SEA V League.

Two things that are of particular concern to the Jakarta Lavani player are the level of accuracy of his team’s serve and the ability to receive serves from opponents.

“We are focused on improving our ability to receive serves, because in the match in Taiwan we had difficulties in this regard. We are also trying to be braver in serving, strengthen mentally, and learn from previous mistakes,” explained the 20-year-old player.

Apart from that, Hendra also realized that the Thai team would likely perform at full strength when competing in Indonesia.

“We reckon that Thailand will likely field their best squad when playing in Indonesia, just like they did in Taiwan. However, in the Philippines, they will probably rotate players because several Thai players will participate in the qualifiers in Qatar,” added Hendra.

The Indonesian national team will start their struggle in the 2023 SEA V League by facing the Philippines on July 21. In the second match, Indonesia will face Vietnam the following day, and finally close their appearance in this event against Thailand on July 23.

The Indonesian national team will be represented by the 2023 Proliga champion team, Jakarta Lavani, as well as several national team players who are playing in the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games.
