Ezra Walian’s free kick saves Persib from defeat against Dewa United

– Persib Bandung survived defeat after Ezra Walian scored from a free kick, so the League 1 match against Dewa United ended in a draw, 2-2, at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium, Bandung City, on Friday (14/7/2023) night.

Appearing as the host, Persib was initially left behind by the visitors by two goals. These goals were scored by Ahmad Rusadi in the 35th minute and Alex Martins in the 59th minute.

However, Persib managed to catch up with them in the 63rd minute through Rachmat Irianto’s goal, and in the 92nd minute through Ezra Walian’s goal.

In that match, Persib played in a blue home jersey, while the visitors wore a brown uniform with two black stripes.

During the 20 minutes of the match, neither team has managed to score a goal. The match was tight because both teams tried to find opportunities even though they didn’t score.

After various attacks launched, Dewa United as a guest managed to score the opening goal through a corner kick which was converted into a goal by Ahmad Rusadi. He managed to convert a corner kick from Majed Osman into a goal with a header and broke into the Persib goal guarded by Teja Paku Alam.

In the second half, Persib again fell behind after Dewa United scored a goal in the 58th minute. The goal also came from a corner kick sent by Egy Maulana. The Indonesian national team player’s bait was then used by Alex Martins after the ball left the escort of Victor Igbonefo and his colleagues in front of Persib’s goal.

After trailing by two goals, Persib finally scored in the 63rd minute. Rachmat Irianto managed to score after taking advantage of a wild ball from a free kick taken by Marc Klok. Marc Klok’s kick hit the goal and the rebound ball was used by Rachmat Irianto to score a goal.

In the 67th minute, Persib had to lose one player because Febri Haryadi got a red card. The player with jersey number 13 received a second yellow card after propping Egy to the ground during a counterattack on the side of the field.

After playing with 10 players, Dewa United pressed Persib’s defense several times. However, Persib instead got a chance through a free kick near the penalty box after a violation by Dewa’s players.

Ezra Walian, who served as the executioner, managed to take advantage of this opportunity in the 92nd minute. Ezra’s shot was aimed at the top corner of the goal which made it difficult for goalkeeper Sonny Stevens to prevent it from hitting the target.
