Here’s the Development of the Former West Ham Goalkeeper Who Fainted While Being a Commentator

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Former West Ham United goalkeeper, Shaka Hislop, has regained consciousness after fainting while commentating on Real Madrid’s trial match against AC Milan, at the Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena, United States of America, Sunday (23/7/2023) local time or Monday (24/7/2023) WIB.

This happened a few minutes before the friendly match Real Madrid vs AC Milan started. Shaka Hislop lost consciousness during the pre-match segment. During the incident, the ESPN football commentator was performing a routine segment with fellow commentator Dan Thomas before staggering and then falling.

The camera stays on, as Thomas seeks help from medical services. “Shak! (referring to Hislop) Shak! Help!,” shouted Dan Thomas asking for help for his colleague. Seconds later, fellow media employees and stadium security enter the frame, before the camera focuses elsewhere.

In a video shared by ESPN FC, the ESPN football analyst revealed that he is doing well and thanked everyone for reaching out to offer support, even people he had not spoken to in years.

“Well, it was awkward. What a 24 hour period. Often life gives you a moment to stop and this is mine,” said Hislop, who was born in England but played for the Trinidad and Tobago national team.

The now 54-year-old is grateful to his wife, children, family, friends, people I have shared my space with over the years and lost touch for whatever reason and have reached out either directly or indirectly.

“My response now should be to seek the best medical opinion I can get and see what my doctor has to say,” Hislop said.

Hislop also thanks Dan Thomas and the ESPN family, the camera operators, the medical staff, all who responded in the way they did so he got me treated in the event.

“I know now that even when we argue and disagree I have the full support of all of you. I look forward to going back and doing what I love most. See you soon,” said the one-time England Under-21 international.
