Japanese Women’s Doubles May/Nao Won Badminton AJC in Yogyakarta

An extraordinary achievement came from the Japanese women’s doubles, Mei Sudo/Nao Yamakita, who won the title at the 2023 BNI Badminton Asia Junior Championships (AJC).

The fierce match in the women’s doubles final at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships (ACJ) 2023 took place at the Amongraga Sports Hall, Yogyakarta, on Sunday (16/7/2023) afternoon. Duet Mei/Nao faced a couple from South Korea, Park Seul/Yeon Seo Yeon.

In a tense struggle at the 2023 Badminton Asia Junior Championships (ACJ) tournament, Mei/Nao finally came out victorious with a rubber game score of 21-19, 14-21, 23-21.

It is undeniable that Mei/Nao are experiencing difficulties in their game consistency. However, in the decisive game, they managed to overcome the lag by never giving up and trying their best. “The key to our victory today was never giving up. When we were left behind, we didn’t want to give up and kept trying,” said Nao Yamakita.

In the final match, the two gave each other encouragement in a tight match. Trust in each other made Mei/Nao more calm and focused, which finally led them to win after playing for 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Nao Yamakita revealed that Mei Sudo is a quiet type of person, so he tries to provide encouragement and support so that Mei can stay focused and play with enthusiasm.

This support brought satisfying results, as well as led them to win the title for the third time this year. Previously, Mei/Nao also won the Germany Junior and Guatemala Future Series 2023.

Their journey in Yogyakarta is not easy, especially in adapting to the hot weather. However, thanks to the warm support from the citizens of Student Town, Mei/Nao manages to overcome these difficulties.
