Ketum PSSI Appoints Frank Wormuth as Consultant Coach for the U-17 National Team

Solo, Beritasatu.com – Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, announced the appointment of Frank Wormuth from Germany as a consultant coach for the U-17 national team.

Erick believes the 62-year-old man will be able to improve the quality and strategy of the Red and White team towards the U-17 World Cup. According to Erick, the capacity of the coach who was last in charge of FC Groningen, Netherlands and was the manager of the U-20 Germany National Team in 2010-2016, will be the beginning of the desire to shape and design patterns and strategies for the character of Indonesian football in the future.

“We have appointed Frank Wormuth to be a coaching consultant who will accompany him coach Milky Way. This first contract is for a period of 4 months, until the FIFA World Cup U-17 event. We will see how the two collaborate in building the Garuda Muda national team,” said Erick Thohir in Solo, Sunday (23/7/2023).

In a four-month contract, Frank will carry out phases to build the U-17 National Team so that they are ready to compete with 24 other countries in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, November 10-December 2.

Starting from an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) to form a solid coaching team and staff, preparing training modules, presentation to program implementation, as well as monitoring and evaluating modules run by the U-17 coaching team.

“Frank’s appointment was also based on training camp plans and try out to Germany from September to October. I believe the network that Frank has in Germany will help a lot in the maturation of the national team and also the coaching team,” said Erick.

Frank Wormuth has defended, Freiburg, Hertha BSC, and Freiburger as a player. While as a coach he has handled Pfullendorf, Reutlingen, Union Berlin, VfR Aalen, Germany U-20, Heracles Almelo, and Groningen.
