Klopp is very happy that Liverpool has Mac Allister

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp, feels lucky because he received a brilliant contribution from the 2022 World Cup champion, Alexis Mac Allister, in the match against Sheffield United.

A spectacular goal scored by Mac Allister helped Liverpool win 3-1 at Anfield on Friday (5/4/2024) early morning WIB.

In the Premier League match, Mac Allister scored a goal in the 76th minute with a hard kick that shook the Sheffield United goal, when the previous score was still tied at 1-1.

Mac Allister's good performance continues with goal contributions in the last six Premier League matches, recording three goals and four assists.

“He's a very important player for us, really an extraordinary child,” said Klopp, as reported by the club's official website on Friday (5/4/2024).

“I met his father after the game, he said 'thank you', I said 'gracias'! That was our brief conversation. 'Hola' I also said, and then my Spanish ended,” he added.

“Mac Allister is an extraordinary player, an extraordinary child. We are very lucky to have him at Liverpool,” continued Klopp.

The goal he scored against Sheffield means Mac Allister has collected four goals and five assists in the Premier League this season, or six goals and seven assists in all competitions.

When asked about Mac Allister's ideal position, Klopp stated that the Argentinian midfielder is capable of playing both as a number 6 or defensive midfielder, and as a number 8 who shows stability in both attack and defense.

“If we talk about Mac Allister and whether he is better suited to play as a number eight or number six, those are two different things to talk about,” said Klopp.

The German coach also praised Mac Allister's defensive ability. His performance answered everyone's doubts, “Can he be a defensive midfielder like that? In other positions, he can also have the same impact,” he added.
