Komang Defeats Liang, Indonesia Wins 5-0 over Hong Kong

Chengdu, Beritasatu.com – Women's singles player Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi won 21-16, 21-17 over Liang Ka Wing in the 2024 Uber Cup group qualification at the Chengdu Hi Tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium, Chengdu, China, Saturday (27/4/2024). Indonesia won 5-0 over Hong Kong.

“Even though the Indonesian team has won, I definitely want to contribute points too. “Earlier I tried my best even though I made my own mistakes,” said Komang Ayu.

Komang Ayu admitted that her own mistakes were influenced by her efforts to adapt to the playing field.

“(Challenge) Adapting to the field and ball, because it turns out the ball is quite fast. “During practice, the ball happened to be slower,” said Komang Ayu.

Komang Ayu revealed that her experience with the Uber Cup squad gave her valuable lessons about togetherness, support and mutual respect for fellow teammates.

Playing as the third women's singles spearhead of the squad, Komang Ayu stated that she was ready and anticipated the pressure in this important position.

“When I was selected to be in the squad, I definitely knew and anticipated being the third seed. From there I have prepared myself and that is the responsibility of the third women's singles,” he said.

Before Komang Ayu competed, Indonesia had won 4-0 over Hong Kong. The four wins were recorded by Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo from women's singles, and Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Allessya Rose from women's doubles.

Gregoria beat Yeung Sum Yee 21-15, 21-11, while Ester ended Saloni Samirbhai Mehta's resistance with 21-14, 21-12,

Lanny/Ribka beat Yeung Nga Ting/Yeung Pui Lam in a rubber game 10-21, 21-10, 21-17. Meilysa/Rachel also recorded victory in three sets, who silenced Lui Lok Lok/Ng Wing Yung with a score of 21-16, 20-22, 21-18.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian men's squad will face England in the 2024 Thomas Cup group C qualifying round, today.
