Korea Open 2023: Fajar/Rian Moves Smoothly, Gregoria Squeezes Sweat

Yeonsu, Beritasatu.com – Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung made it through the top 32 of the Korea Open 2023 with a win. Occupying the first seed, Fajar/Rian didn’t need to sweat a lot to qualify for the last 16 of the 2023 Korea Open.

They have ensured victory over the Korean doubles, Ko Sung Hyun / Shin Baek Cheol when the score was only 1-1 in the first set in the match at Jinnam Stadium, Wednesday (19/7/2023). The reason was that the Korean doubles decided they could not continue the match (retired).

This result makes Fajar/Rian will challenge the Taiwanese pair, Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han in the round of 16, Thursday (20/7/2023).

In other matches, Gregoria followed in the footsteps of her partner, Putri Kusuma Wardani, into the round of 16. However, Gregoria was immediately forced to work hard in her first match against a Spanish badminton player, Clara Azurmendi.

Having lost the first set 16-21, Gregoria recovered in the second set to win 21-15. The match in the deciding set was fierce and tense.

Gregoria’s success in playing calm and focused made her finally finish the decisive set with a narrow victory 21-19.

Furthermore, in the round of 16 Gregoria will face Korean players, Sim Yu Jin, Thursday (20/7/2023).
