Korea Open 2023: Surprise, Fikri/Bagas Eliminated Couples from Qualification Round

Yeonsu, Beritasatu.com – Surprises were immediately presented in the first round of the top 32 of the Korea Open 2023. One of Indonesia’s representatives in the men’s doubles, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana had to lift his suitcase faster.

The winner of the 2022 All England title was defeated by the pair that made it through the qualifying round, Jon Yong/Na Sung Seung in a match at Jinnam Stadium, Tuesday (18/7/2023).

Fikri/Bagas failed to show their best game in this match. They gave up in straight sets 6-21, 10-21 with a duration of only 27 minutes.

This was Fikri/Bagas’ first defeat in three meetings with the Korean pair. Previously, in the first meeting, Fikri/Bagas won in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Korea Open and the top 32 of the 2023 Indonesia Masters.

Indonesia still leaves three representatives in doubles, namely Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, Pramudya Kusumawardhana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Rambitan, and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.
