Left behind by Phil Jones, Manchester United have found a replacement candidate

Liputan6.com, Jakarta- Manchester United will bring in a new centre-back in the 2023 summer transfer market. MU needs additional ammunition at the back after it was confirmed that Phil Jones was leaving and is likely to sell captain Harry Maguire.

Jones has just confirmed that he will leave MU, which he has defended for 12 years. MU did not extend the contract of the English player which ended on June 30 2023.

After removing Jones, MU is also likely to sell Maguire, who has made little contribution this season. The former Leicester City player even made more blunders when played by manager Erk ten Hag.

With two defenders left behind, MU is likely to bring in two new defenders in the summer of 2023. This is because Ten Hag also doesn’t like Eric Bailly, who is on loan at Olympique Marseille.

For Maguire’s replacement, there are two candidates namely South Korean player Kim Min-jae from Napoli and Ten Hag’s former protege at Ajax Amsterdam, Jurrien Timber.

As for Jones’ replacement, Manchester United have been reported by journalist Rudy Galetti as seriously considering Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi. The 22-year-old player appeared extraordinary with Palace in the 2022/2023 season.
