Menpora: KONI is Expected to Become a Role Model for Indonesian Sports Organizations

– The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo hopes that the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) will become a role model for Indonesian sports organizations or federations.

This was emphasized by the Menpora when opening the 2023 National Sports Conference (Musornas) XIV KONI XIV at the Pullman Central Park Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/7/2023). The main agenda for Musornas XIV KONI 2023 is to choose the General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Central KONI for the 2023-2027 service period.

“I want to express my appreciation for the previous leadership, which was led by Marciano Norman as General Chair of the Central KONI. KONI has become an Indonesian sports organization with excellent management and has succeeded in obtaining ISO: 9001 certification,” said Menpora Dito.

It is hoped that the Central KONI will transmit this to other sports organizations, especially members of the Central KONI, Provincial KONI and Regency/City KONI. It is said, this award can provide additional motivation for KONI to continue to improve its quality, become more extraordinary, and achieve greater success.

In his remarks, the Head of KONI Center for the 2019-2023 term of service expressed his gratitude for the hard work of the entire achievement sports community. With the support of all parties, several records of achievement can be realized even though various dynamics of challenges arise.

“We have gone through various dynamics and challenges together, including facing the severity of the Covid-19 Pandemic which almost paralyzed the sports community for several years, but as the theme of the 2023 National Congress XIV KONI, ‘United Achievers, we are able to achieve by being united’,” explained Marciano.

According to him, the National Sports Week (PON) XX/2021 Papua is proof that the Indonesian nation, be it the government, the sports achievement community, the private sector, and of course the Papuan people, are all united in making PON XX/2021 Papua a success which was previously considered impossible.

PON XX/2021 Papua itself is considered difficult to realize for various reasons, from security to Covid-19 which has an impact on several things such as the budget.

“In the end, PON XX/2021 Papua ran smoothly and was successful, dozens of new records were broken by our proud athletes. This is the success of all of us, being able to unite, achieving during the Covid-19 Pandemic,” he continued proudly of the Papuan people who were able to unite Indonesia in difficult times.

In the future, there will be PON XXI/2024 in Aceh-North Sumatra, PON which will be recorded in the history of Indonesian sports because it was the first in two provinces and was followed by 38 provinces, including 4 New Autonomous Regions (DOB).
