Not only JIS, Menpora Dito said there were 22 other stadiums that would be renovated

– Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo said the government was not only renovating the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS). Dito said there were 22 other stadiums that the government would renovate.

“The principle is actually related to the stadium, it’s not just JIS, so there are 22 stadiums in Indonesia that we will focus on and we’ll see where access is, what needs to be repaired, renovated and perfected,” said Dito Ariotedjo at Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta , Sunday (2/7/2023).

Dito revealed that the renovation of the stadium was necessary because the stadium has multiple functions. Not only serves as a football stadium, but also for other sports, such as athletics. Thus, the function of every stadium in Indonesia will be optimal for all athletes.

“So we want 22 stadiums throughout Indonesia in the future we make sure that all of them are optimal technically and also in terms of specifications,” he said.

“This must be able to meet all the standards required in the implementation events whether it be national or international,” Dito added.

For this reason, said Dito, each stadium must not only meet the standards set by FIFA as the world football organization, but also meet the standards of the athletics federation and other sports federations.

Previously, the general chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir, said he had been invited by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to focus on discussing the renovation of 22 stadiums. The renovation of dozens of stadiums is important for the advancement of Indonesian football and other sports.

“Today there is a meeting at the Bogor Palace. It was specially invited to discuss the government’s renovation of 22 stadiums,” said Erick Thohir at the GBK Arena, Central Jakarta, Thursday (22/6/2023).
