Persija Has a Good Record Against PSM, Thomas Doll: That’s Just the Past

– Coach Thomas Doll admits he doesn’t really care about Persija Jakarta’s good record against PSM Makassar.

Persija will meet PSM Makassar in their first match in League 1 on Monday (3/7/2023). Persija will fight the defending champion at the Bung Karno Main Stadium.

In the last five meetings against PSM, Persija recorded impressive achievements with four wins and one draw.

“I didn’t focus too much on past statistics. Right now, we are in the present and not the past. Maybe if we have God’s support, then we can determine whether we can win or not,” said Doll in a pre-match press conference in Jakarta , Sunday (2/7/2023) afternoon.

Apart from that, Doll also acknowledged that PSM remains a strong team because the players have played together for a long time, so there is a very good connection between them.

On the other hand, Doll said that Persija currently only relies on Ryo Matsumura as the only foreign player who is ready to play. However, this did not make the German coach despair, especially because he felt that Persija’s local players were of sufficient quality.

“In my opinion, the development of local players is quite good, and I hope that you can see that tomorrow. We still have a chance to win the game against PSM, and all the players are ready to give their best in tomorrow’s match,” said the former Borussia Dortmund coach. .

Persija’s first match this season will take place at the Bung Karno Main Stadium. This shows progress compared to last season, where the Kemayoran Tigers always played outside Jakarta, except for the closing matches of the season.
