Persija Signs Midfielder Maciej Gajos from Poland

– Persija Jakarta has officially signed Maciej Gajos, a midfielder from Poland, from club Lechia Gdansk on Friday (14/7/2023). The existence of Gajos in this club aims to complement squad Persija Jakarta foreign players in this season’s competition.

At the player introduction event at the Persija Store, Jakarta, the fourth Persija foreign player has signed his contract and announced it to the public. Gajos will join Persija for two seasons and will use the jersey number 10.

Persija President Mohamad Prapanca said, “Finally one of Persija’s foreign players has arrived in Jakarta and has joined today’s (Friday) training session. We hope Maciej Gajos can strengthen the Persija Jakarta team, Macan Kemayoran, and complement squad us to win the title in the 2023/2024 season.”

Gajos, who previously played with Egy Maulana Vikry, an Indonesian national team player, expressed his joy at defending Persija. He said, “I will always give my best. I hope we have a successful season, and I can’t wait to play for this team.”

Even though he admits that he is not very familiar with the competition in Indonesia and Persija as a club, Gajos emphasized that his communication with Egy, Witan Sulaeman and Czech defender Ondrej Kudela had convinced him to accept an offer from Persija.

For Gajos, this was his first experience playing outside Poland after starting his career at Rakow in 2009. After three years with Rakow, Gajos moved to Jagiellona Bialystok in the 2012/2013 season. In 2016, he moved to a bigger club, Lech Poznan, and helped the club win the Polish Super Cup in the 2016/2017 season.

In the 2019/2020 season, Gajos joined the Lechia Gdansk club. In his first season in Gdansk, he managed to bring the club to win the Polish Super Cup.

Gajos is known as a productive midfielder. While playing in the Polish League, the 32-year-old has scored 62 goals and provided 32 assists from a total of 396 appearances.
