Profile of Hasan Fawzi, New OJK DK to Supervise Crypto for the 2023-2028 Period

Previously, the candidate member of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (DK OJK), Crypto assets, Hasan Fawzi gave an explanation regarding the transfer of crypto supervision from CoFTRA to OJK.

Related to this, according to Hasan, it must be carried out with the spirit and sincere desire to prioritize national interests.

“We have to build strong coordination and cooperation with all relevant institutions,” said Hasan in a fit and proper test with Commission XI DPR RI, Monday (10/7/2023).

Hasan said that there are three institutions that are most important to maintain coordination in the crypto sector, namely Bank Indonesia (BI), then with CoFTRA.

“Coordinating with CoFTRA, especially for the transfer or transition of regulatory authority for crypto assets, I think we have to do it in the spirit so as not to hinder its current development,” Hasan explained.

Hasan said, this effective transfer will only occur in the next 2 years. In the middle of these 2 years, Hasan hopes that there will still be products issued jointly by OJK and CoFTRA.

“Later, when the transition has been made, OJK will understand the context of the regulatory framework that has been issued and is still on CoFTRA’s side,” concluded Hasan.

As is known, this transition of supervision occurred after the issuance of Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (PPSK). This law as a whole changes oversight of crypto assets from Bappebti to OJK.
