Roku acquires Westworld, Raised By Wolves and other canceled HBO shows
Roku, the American streaming service, has acquired the rights to broadcast several HBO series such as Westworld and Raised By Wolves. We tell you more details, below!
Roku, one of the most popular streaming services in the United States for offering both paid and free versions with traditional TV-style ads, added 14 new productions to its content library. This is about 2000 hours of content from the Warner Bros. library. This includes several productions that were originally from HBO such as Westworld, The Nevers and Raised by Wolves.
What’s interesting about these additions is that these specific series were completely removed from the HBO Max content library, and couldn’t be seen anywhere. This also affected several reality shows that are now also on Roku such as “FBoy Island” or “Legendary”.
Other productions included will be The Bachelor, Cake Boss, Say Yes to the Dress, The Nevers, Finding Magic Mike, Head of the Class, The Time Traveler’s Wife, My Cat from Hell, Breaking Amish, Caribbean Life, Paranormal Lockdown, Murder Chose Me, Mysteries at the Museum, A Wedding Story, How It’s Made, My Five Wives and more.
Roku broadcasts its content through digital “channels” within its platform, and they will have names similar to WB TV All Together, WB TV At the Movies, WB TV Crime Scenes, WB TV Family Rules, WB TV How To or WB TV Keeping it Real. No one specifically mentions the word HBO.
At first, everything seemed to indicate that Warner Bros. discovery would save all its series, TV and film content exclusively for HBO Max. However, now it is seen that the company agrees to license content to other streaming companies. For example, as in Argentina there is no Roku Channel, perhaps the company is free to make some agreement with the local digital service providers. Currently other Latin American countries already have access to Roku Latam.
