Verstappen Wins Hungarian GP, Red Bull Breaks McLaren’s Record
Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Max Verstappen successfully won the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring Circuit, Sunday (23/7/2023). This success also led the Red Bull team to break the record for F1 wins 12 times in a row or surpass McLaren’s record which was created in 1988.
The second and third positions are occupied by McLaren’s Lando Norris.
“Twelve wins in a row, that’s history!” Red Bull team boss Christian Horner told Verstappen over team radio, as broadcast AFP.
Verstappen was outstanding in this race. However, it is not easy for him to finish first. He was just over half a second ahead to take the first podium.
“I do start which is great. I own the inside, that[first]corner is mine. It was great from there, today my car was really fast,” said Verstappen.
“Hopefully we can keep this momentum going for a long time,” said Verstappen.
With his seventh successive win, Verstappen extended the world champion’s lead over Sergio Perez to 110 points in the F1 standings.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton, who departed from pole position for the first time in 33 races, had a bad start. He dashed the Mercedes driver’s hopes of taking his 104th career win after finishing fourth.
