Violating UEFA Financial Regulations, Barcelona Fined IDR 8.4 Billion
– Barcelona and Manchester United were among the clubs fined by UEFA after breaching regulations Financial Fair Play. Among the clubs that received fines, Barcelona is the biggest.
UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) previously investigated reports for financial years covering 2019 and 2022.
Barcelona was fined 500,000 euros or around IDR 8.4 billion for providing erroneous financial statements in the 2022 financial year. The erroneous reports included gains on the disposal of intangible assets, as well as player transfers which are not relevant income under the regulations.
Meanwhile, Man Utd was fined 300,000 euros or around IDR 5 billion after reporting a small deficit. The Turkish club, Konyaspor, and the Cypriot team APOEL also received fines, which also received a fine of 100,000 euros or around Rp. 1.6 billion.
The fine that Man Utd received relates to UEFA’s previous FFP regulations, which had no impact on the club’s budget for signings during the summer transfer window.
“Although disappointed Manchester United accepted this fine for what UEFA recognized was a minor technical breach of the Financial Fair Play regulations,” a club statement said.
