Wimbledon 2023 results: Carlos Alcaraz ends Novak Djokovic’s domination and wins the title

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Carlos Alcaraz won the 2023 Wimbledon men’s singles title. The Spaniard defeated Novak Djokovic in the five-hour final with a score of 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, 3-6, and 6-4 at the All England Tennis Club, Wimbledon, London, England, Sunday (16/7) evening WIB.

This is the first time Carlos Alcaraz has won the Wimbledon title. This achievement ended Djokovic’s dominance at the Grand Slam tournament.

Novak Djokovic is the defending champion and is seeking his fifth successive win at Wimbledon after 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022. The Serb has won Wimbledon seven times out of nine finals he has contested.

“This is a dream come true for me,” Alcaraz said after the match BBC.

“Even if I lose, I will still be proud of myself. To be playing at stages like this – as a 20-year-old boy – is quick.”

“I’m very proud of myself,” added Alcaraz, who is the first seed at Wimbledon 2023.

Alcaraz, who won his first Grand Slam title at the US Open last year, celebrated by falling on his face after earning his first match point and kicking the ball into the crowd.
