12 Hours Flying to Jakarta, Messi Fans from Maluku Disappointed
A Lionel Messi fan from Maluku was disappointed because he could not see the Argentine star directly. In fact, he had to fly for 12 hours from Maluku to Jakarta.
Surya Wijaya Ang, a Lionel Messi fan from Banda Neira, Maluku, had to travel 12 hours by boat and plane to get to Jakarta. He really wanted to watch Messi play in Gelora Bung Karno. Unfortunately, that hope is a distant memory.
Surya Wijaya Ang’s news appeared in the Argentine media, Buenos Aires Times. This online media writes about the disappointment of Lionel Messi fans in Indonesia after the former PSG player will not play with the Argentina national team against the Indonesian national team on FIFA Matchday, Monday 19 June 2023.
Surya, who flew 12 hours from his hometown in Maluku, accused the organizers of placing false advertisements.
Previously more than 60,000 tickets for the match sold out within minutes after Messi’s face appeared in the advertisement for the match.
But after days of speculation, Indonesian football fans received bad news on Thursday that Messi would not be playing.
“I feel sad and disappointed, mixed feelings,” 31-year-old shop owner Surya Wijaya Ang told AFP.
“This is the biggest opportunity for me to see Messi play live,” he added.
