2 Indonesian Boxers Win Final Tickets, Asri Udin Makes Opponents Fall

Two Indonesian boxers from DKI Jakarta performed brilliantly by winning tickets to the final round of the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games. The two Indonesian representatives were Asri Udin in the 57 kg class and female boxer Ratna Sari Dewi who competed in the 54 kg class.

In the semifinal round which was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Wednesday (10/5/2023), Asri Udin only needed one round against Sivixay Thammavongsa (Laos). The referee was forced to stop the match and give RSC victory to Asri Udin, after a series of punches knocked Sivixay upside down.

Meanwhile, Ratna Sari Devi appeared quite tactical when she met Myanmar boxer, Shu Myat Noe. Ratna achieved absolute victory throughout the three rounds.

“Yah Ratna, I see, appeared quite tactical. She really followed the advice of the three coaches, namely Barbora (from Cuba), Darman Hutahuruk and Puspa,” explained Boxing Team Manager Hengky Silatang when contacted by the media crew, Wednesday night.

Ratna, according to the coach’s instructions, namely releasing punches and immediately avoiding them, was executed correctly. The opponent looks difficult to release the counterpunch. This strategy was executed well by Ratna until the third round ended.

Regarding the appearance of Asri Udin, who is still 20 years old, Hengky said that the boxer who is under the auspices of Pengprov Pertina DKI indeed has a hard punch. “This weapon is put to good use by Asri,” he explained.

In the final round, Asri’s prowess will be tested by Filipino boxer, Ian Clark Pedres Baltista. While Ratna will face Filipino boxer, Nesthy Alcayde Petecio.
Indonesia still leaves two more boxers in the semifinals which will be played on Thursday, namely Dio Koebanu and Aldom Sugoro.
