Winning 9 Gold, the Pencak Silat National Team Wins the General Champion of the 2023 SEA Games

The Indonesian Pencak Silat National Team performed fiercely at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia. With the addition of seven gold medals on Wednesday (10/5/2023) the Indonesian Pencak Silat National Team confirmed themselves as the overall champion of the 2023 SEA Games Cambodia with details of 9 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze.

The pencak silat duel resumed this afternoon after previously holding a number of matches from morning to noon. In Men’s Tanding Class B, Muhammad Zaki Zikrillah met Thai athlete, Sarayut Srakaew. Zaki is still too tough for Srakaew. The match ended with Zaki’s advantage with a score of 53-47.

The gold medal is back in the pockets of the Garuda Troops in the Men’s Tanding Class E number. Tito Hendra Septa Kurnia frustrates the resistance of Pornteb Pholkaew from Thailand. The final score was 67-37.

Other good news, the appeal made by the Indonesian Pencak Silat National Team for the Safira Dwi Meilani match was accepted. That way, the silver medal turned into gold.

Previously, the referee thought that Safira had suffered a right shoulder injury due to being locked in that position several times. Safira is also seen screaming in pain. Finally, the referee won the opponent, Huang Jung An Nguyen, who came from Vietnam. In fact, Safira led in terms of score.

An additional seven gold medals made the Indonesian Pencak Silat National Team collect a total of nine gold at the 2023 SEA Games. This is because Indonesia won two gold the previous day.

For this achievement, Chef de Mission (CdM) for the Indonesian Team at the 2023 SEA Games Cambodia, Lexyndo Hakim, said he was very proud. Moreover, pencak silat is one of the sports that the people of Indonesia are most proud of.

“Pencak silat is the pride of Indonesia. We won a total of 16 medals with details of 9 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze, and came out as the overall champion in pencak silat. This confirms Indonesia’s role as the leader of world martial arts,” said CdM who is familiar called the Lexy.

SEA Games 2023 Cambodia is the 32nd edition. This is the first time Cambodia has hosted a multi-event sports solidarity event in the ASEAN region.

The Indonesian team for the 2023 SEA Games Cambodia led by Chef de Mission (CdM) Lexyndo Hakim participated in 31 sports. The Indonesian team received support from official partners, Li-Ning, MyTours, NusaPay, Gudangkripto, Pocari Sweat, Essenza, Baggage, Independent Supply Logistics.
