24 Wushu Athletes Enter the National Junior Championships in Asia

– As many as 24 of the best wushu athletes were summoned by the Indonesian Wushu Executive Board (PB WI) led by Airlangga Hartarto to enter the national training center (pelatnas) for the Pre-Junior and Junior Indonesian Wushu National Team to face the 2023 Junior Asian Wushu Championships which will take place in Macau, China, August 14-21, 2023.

Deputy Chairperson 1 PB WI in charge of the Achievement Sector, Iwan Kwok in Jakarta, Monday (10/7/2023) said that the 24 pre-junior and junior athletes were the best from the selection results. They will undergo national training at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Arena Senayan, Jakarta.

“A total of 24 junior taolu athletes were netted from the results of the National Wushu Taolu Stage 1 Series 1 Circuit in 2023. Meanwhile, the 10 pre-junior and junior wushu sanda athletes were the result of a national selection held at the GBK Arena Jakarta, 5-6 July. We ask them to be present in Jakarta, 13 July 2023,” said Iwan Kwok.

The Sanda National Selection was attended by 31 pre-junior and junior athletes from DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), South Sumatra (South Sumatra) and South Papua.

“The selected pre-junior and junior sanda athletes are the best with qualified physical conditions. And, we ask them to continue to do training while in their respective areas so they can maintain their physical condition when they enter the national training later,” added Iwan Kwok.

“We will use the preparation time for one month at the National Training Center to improve their quality, especially physically and technically,” he added.

The Head of the Pelatnas Task Force Herman Wijaya said, the Indonesian Junior Wushu National Team would try to maintain the results of the 2 gold medals that had been achieved at the 2019 Brunei Darussalam Junior Asia Wushu Championships.

“We will try to defend the 2 gold medals from the taolu number at the 2019 Junior Asian Wushu Championships. Hopefully we can also add gold medals from the sanda number,” said Herman Wijaya who also serves as head of the Taolu PB WI Achievement Development division.
