Against Imanaga in Japan, Boxer Hebi Marapu Aims for the World Ranking

Japan, Beritasatu.com – Indonesian professional boxer, Hebi Marapu has ambitions to enter the world rankings by appearing in Japan for the first time. Hebi Marapu will face Japanese boxer Taiga Imanaga in an additional match at the Ariake Arena, Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday (25/7/2023).

Hebi Marapu is ready to perform as well as possible to make her dream come true.

“Of course I know this fight is not easy but I have also gone through all the preparation processes with the help of the trainers, the team sports scienceand the sports nutrition team,” said Hebi after weighing at the Yokohama Bay Sheraton Tower on Monday (24/7/2023).

The match against Imanaga was a tough challenge for Hepi. Apart from appearing on the opponent’s field, Taiga is 10 centimeters taller than him in posture and 10 years younger.

Even so, Hebi did not lose heart.

“I don’t want to be seen only as a boxer who appears in an additional party. More than that, I want to perform as well as possible so that I can pave the way to a bigger stage,” he added.

Hebi and the XBC Sportech team have been in Japan since July 20. This boxer from East Sumba has been in the ideal weight, 61.3 kilograms, since before leaving for Japan.

David John Treharne, coach of Hebi Marapu, admitted that he had prepared a special strategy for the duel later.

“Hebi is in a ready condition both physically and mentally. He will be strong and have the stamina to fight eight rounds, as scheduled. Hebi is also very focused and ready to execute a battle plan. We just want to make the opponent feel uncomfortable and force him into our strategy. The key is not to let Imanaga get comfortable,” said the Canadian coach.

Treharne also admitted that it was difficult to win on points in Japan. However, fighting aggressively to take down your opponent can also backfire. Because of this, hitting, movement, and explosiveness will be key in every round.
