Ahead of the U-17 World Cup, FIFA will review a number of stadiums in Indonesia

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The Indonesian Football Association or PSSI proposed 8 stadiums to FIFA for the U-17 World Cup. FIFA will review a number of stadiums in Indonesia.

PSSI chairman, Erick Thohir, said FIFA was doing it reviews for these stadiums.

It is known that the stadiums proposed to FIFA by PSSI are the Bung Karno Main Stadium (Jakarta), Jakabaring Stadium (Palembang), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (Bandung), Manahan Stadium (Solo), Bung Tomo Stadium (Surabaya), and the Captain’s Stadium. I Wayan Dipta (Bali). These six stadiums were originally prepared for the U-20 World Cup. Then the other two proposed stadiums are the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and Pakansari Stadium.

“We are proposing six to eight stadiums. What is certain is that stadiums such as JIS, Jalak Harupat, Gelora Bung Tomo, Bogor, and Manahan Solo Stadium are being reviewed by FIFA,” said Erick Thohir when met in the Central Jakarta area, Monday (17/7 /2023).

Erick stated that FIFA would first conduct a review in Jakarta because other stadiums had already become candidates for U-20 venues, so FIFA already had an overview of those stadiums.

“So, the promise is that FIFA will come to Jakarta first. Several stadiums have previously served as U-20 venues, such as Manahan Solo, Gelora Bung Tomo, and Jalak Harupat. So, FIFA already has an idea,” he explained.

Even so, there are still improvements to be made regarding the condition of the grass. However, other factors are in accordance with the standards set.

“At most later the grass will have to be sewn back, but if other standards are in accordance with FIFA regulations. The stadiums in Bogor and JIS will be reviewed again by FIFA,” concluded Erick Thohir.
