Korea Open 2023: Gregoria Anticipates Field Conditions

vYeosu, Beritasatu.com – Playing on a new field is a challenge for Indonesia’s representatives at the 2023 Korea Open, including women’s singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. The Super 500 level BWF tournament will be played at the Jinnam Stadium in Yeosu, South Korea, from today (18/7/2023) to Sunday (23/7/2023).

Gregoria is worried that non-technical factors will become an obstacle for her in this tournament.

“This is my first time playing in Yeosu City, and compared to other places, the place is relatively smaller. It has some windy characteristics. So I’m really trying to adapt so it doesn’t affect me,” said Gregoria, Monday (17/7/2023) .

Gregoria considered that the light on the field was uneven, especially on the dark sides.

“Maybe tomorrow (during the match) it will be more even,” said Gregoria.

Gregoria along with other Indonesian representatives have tried and adapted to the field situation in the training session, Monday (17/7/2023).

According to the Spanish Masters 2023 champion, the mental factor will be very important at the 2023 Korea Open this time. For this reason, Gregoria is more mentally prepared for every game she plays.

“Physically, I’m grateful that everything is in good condition. I prefer to prepare outside, ie. mentally because I want to get maximum results in this tournament,” Gregoria added.

Gregoria, who is seeded sixth, will start the match in the top 32 of the Korea Open 2023 against a Spanish player, Clara Azumendi.

Apart from Gregoria, the Indonesian representative in the women’s singles is Princess Kusuma Wardani. In the men’s singles there is only Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.

For men’s doubles there are four pairs, namely Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan.

Then there is no Indonesian representative in the women’s doubles. In mixed doubles there are Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja and Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti.
