Indonesia Open 2023 Presents Competition for Professional and Amateur Golfers

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The 2023 Indonesia Open professional golf tournament will be held again at Pondok Indah Golf Course Jakarta, on 3-6 August. This event is a routine activity for professional golfers which will also be attended by Indonesian amateur golfers.

This golf tournament will be attended by players registered on the Asian Tour. One of the star players who will be attending is Gaganjeet Bhullar, a golfer from India who won the Indonesia Open in 2013, 2016 and 2022. As the host, Indonesia will also receive an allocation of participants, both professional and amateur golfers.

Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Golf Association (PB PGI), Japto Soerjosoemarno, said that this golf tournament was the most historic in Indonesia.

“This field has experience in holding the Indonesia Open and other international tournaments. We hope this tournament can raise the name of Indonesian golfers, can increase the ranking of Indonesian golfers, both professional and amateur golfers,” he said when confirmed by reporters in Jakarta, Saturday (22/7/2023).

The Indonesia Open is Indonesia’s pride golf tournament which has been held since 1974. Meanwhile, Pondok Indah Golf will host the Indonesia Open in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022.

He said last year was also the venue for the Simone Asia Pacific Cup, a professional ladies tournament. The field, which is located in the southern region of Jakarta, is the venue or host for the 2018 Asian Games and the only one that has ever hosted the World Cup of Golf, namely in 1983.

The Director of Pondok Indah Golf Course, Erick Purwanto explained that his party really appreciates and is grateful to the General Chairperson of PB PGI who has given the trust to be the host.

“With a very short preparation time, we believe that with the solid cooperation of all the teams from Pondok Indah, PB PGI, and the Asian Tour, this tournament can be held as smoothly and successfully as in previous years,” he said.
