Junior International Grand Prix: Adrian Pratama Makes Two Finals

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The couple Adrian Pratama/Jonatan Gosal qualified for the final round of the U-19 men’s doubles at the Yonex Sunrise Pembangunan Jaya Raya Junior International Grand Prix 2023. Both won tickets to the final after defeating their opponents in the semifinals at GOR PB Jaya Raya Bintaro, South Tangerang, Saturday (22/7/2023).

Adrian/Jonatan, the ninth seeded doubles coached by PB Jaya Raya, had no trouble beating the third seeded United Arab Emirates doubles, the Ayyapan brothers Dev and Dhien with a score of 21-15, 21-16 within 30 minutes.

In the final round, they will face the second-seeded Malaysian pair Muhammad Faiq/Lok Hong Quan who previously received tough resistance from the hosts’ doubles Zenno Bayu Mulia/Ali Fathir Rayhan 24-22, 16-21, 21-17.

“I just focus on winning one game at a time and try not to make mistakes myself. We managed to reduce the mistakes made in yesterday’s game. Apart from that, we are also more focused on maintaining cohesiveness,” said Adrian.

Apart from the men’s doubles, Adrian also qualified for the mixed doubles final with his partner Ariella Naqiyyah. They beat 10th seed Pulung Ramadhan/Rinjani Nastine 21-17, 21-9. In the final round, Adrian/Ariella, who are seeded six, will meet seeded three, host Darren Aurelius/Titis Rahma.

Ariella also appears three times a day. She played two matches in the quarter-finals and semifinals of mixed doubles and one match in the last four of the women’s doubles.

“We play doubles in other sectors, but we still try to maintain our rhythm. The trick is to maintain stamina, eat and sleep sufficiently, and consistently maintain physical condition off the field,” added Ariella.

In women’s doubles, Ariella and Rachel Agnesia Sabatini beat fellow Jaya Raya clubs Chelsea Sensa/Chelsea Yogia 18-21, 21-15, 21-15.
