Without Luis Milla, Persib Swallowed First Defeat

Makassar, Beritasatu.com – Without the presence of Luis Milla, Persib Bandung suffered its first defeat in the 2023/2024 League 1 season. Persib had to admit PSM Makassar won 2-4 in the fourth week match at the BJ Habibie Parepare Stadium, South Sulawesi, Saturday (22/7/2023) evening.

Persib handled interim coach Yaya Sunarya in this match. Persib tried to take the initiative to attack at the start of the game. In the fifth minute, Ciro Alves’ long-range pass broke through the PSM penalty box, unfortunately it was not reached by David da Silva.

In the sixth minute, Persib’s goal was broken into by Yuran Fernandez’s header from a free kick. However, the referee annulled the goal because Yuran was already in position off side. Four minutes later Persib’s goal finally conceded too.

PSM’s advantage was opened by Kenzo Nambu’s goal through a hard kick from outside the penalty box which goalkeeper Teja Paku Alam failed to contain.

Persib tried to respond with David da Silva’s header to welcome Ciro Alves’ cross. Unfortunately, the Brazilian player’s header could still be anticipated by PSM goalkeeper Muhammad Reza Pratama.

After a minute, PSM’s young player, Victor Dethan, conceded the Persib goal with a hard kick from inside the penalty box. Persib was even more confused after PSM scored the third goal which this time was scored by Everton.

The 3-0 score for PSM’s advantage lasted until the first half ended.

In the second round, Coach Yaya Sunarya played Ezra Walian to replace Dedi Kusnandar. Behind three goals forced Persib to play a total attack.

In the 59th minute, Klok had scored a goal against PSM, which unfortunately was not allowed because David da Silva was in position off side. After that, substitutions were made by bringing in Ryan Kurnia and Robi Darwis to replace Edo Febriansah and Robi Darwis.

PSM almost increased their advantage if only Yuran Fernandez did not fail to copy the bait in the 65th minute. Persib was still struggling to get the first goal.

In the 85th minute, Klok’s long-range kick was pushed over by the PSM goalkeeper. Finally, in the 86th minute, Persib broke the deadlock through Yuran Fernandez’s own goal. Two minutes later, Nick Kuipers’ header was saved by the PSM goalkeeper. Marc Klok was able to reduce the lag after scoring in the 88th minute.

Two minutes later, it was David da Silva’s turn to threaten, however, his shot was saved by Reza. Persib’s efforts to equalize were stopped after PSM scored the fourth goal through Andi Harjito. The score 4-2 for PSM’s victory closed the match.
