AJC 2023: Aground India, Indonesian Junior Badminton Team to the Semifinals

– Muhammad Al Farizi/Nikolaus Joaquin’s men’s doubles victory ensured that Indonesia would advance to the semifinals of the 2023 Asian Junior Championships (BAJC) mixed team badminton event. Farizi/Nikolaus won via battle rubber game with a score of 21-10, 10-21, 21-12 over India’s men’s doubles, Divyam Arora/Mayank Rana at Amongraga Sports Hall, Yogyakarta, Monday (10/7/2023).

With this result Indonesia won 3-1 over India.

Support from supporters provides additional motivation for Farizi/Nikolaus in this match. They played looser and were finally able to close the match with a win within 42 minutes.

“I’m grateful to be able to play well in this match. Today the spectators who attended were extraordinary and added to our enthusiasm to compete,” said Nikolaus.

Farizi/Nikolaus lost focus in the second game. However, in the deciding game, Farizi/Nikolaus were able to perform brilliantly again and finally ended the match with a win.

“At the start of the second game we had problems when we made a lot of unforced errors. We lost a lot of focus and were grateful that in the third game we were able to get back up. We play with Indonesia winning 2-1, we want to make sure we advance to the semifinals,” added Farizi.

This result will increase Farizi/Nikolaus’ confidence in facing the semifinal match later. Both of them will now recover their condition first before starting preparations and returning to focus on facing the semifinal match.

In the semifinals, Indonesia will face Thailand at the Amongraga Sports Hall, Yogyakarta, Monday (10/7/2023) starting at 16.00 WIB.
