Al Hilal Officially Gets Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio with a Transfer Value of IDR 667 Billion

– Al-Hilal has officially bought Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio in a transfer agreement worth € 40 million or around IDR 667 billion.

“Coming from the Italian eagle. Savic represents the Leader of Asia,” Al-Hilal wrote on his official Twitter account.

The 28-year-old midfielder is the son of former player and coach, Nikola Milinkovic, while his younger brother, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, is the goalkeeper for Torino and the Serbian national team. Al-Hilal signed Milinkovic-Savic to a three-year contract with an option to extend for a fourth season.

Reportedly, Savic will earn a salary of around € 20 million or around IDR 333.8 billion per season. Milinkovic-Savic has been playing for Lazio since 2015. Savic left Lazio after appearing in 341 matches in a Lazio shirt, scoring 69 goals and providing 59 assists.

Al-Hilal is the most successful club in Saudi Arabia and Asia, holding the records for the most Saudi League and Asian Champions League titles with 18 and 4 respectively. The Riyadh-based club finished in third place in the Saudi Pro League last season.

Before Savic, Al-Hilal had first completed a deal for Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly who ended his time at Chelsea after just one season. Koulibaly, 32, follows his former team-mate N’Golo Kante, who joined French compatriot Karim Benzema at Al-Ittihad earlier this month, to the Saudi Pro League.

Al-Hilal was also said to have attempted to sign Lionel Messi, before the Argentine star decided to join MLS club Inter Miami. Another name that is also reportedly on Al-Hilal’s radar is Messi’s former teammate at PSG, Neymar.

Several European League star players have indeed decided to play in the ARAB League. Apart from Koulibaly, Kante and Benzema, several stars who previously competed in Europe also decided to leave for Saudi Arabia. Koulibaly’s Chelsea counterpart Hakim Ziyech will join a club that already owns Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Nassr.

Chelsea goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, is also said to be leaving Saudi Arabia soon to strengthen Al-Ahli. Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves to Al Hilal. Real Betis midfielder William Carvaldo followed Ronaldo to Al Nassr.
