Badminton AJC 2023, Bodhi and Alwi Advance to the Top 16

– Two Indonesian men’s singles, Bodhi Ratana Teja Gotama and Alwi Farhan, advanced to the round of 16 of the 2023 BNI Badminton Asia Junior Championships (AJC) tournament, Thursday (13/7/2023).

Playing at the Amongrogo Sports Hall, Yogyakarta, the men’s singles born in Bekasi, 22 September 2005 stepped up after overcoming the resistance of Thai athlete, Sarun Rukcharoen with a score of 21-18, 17-21, 21-15.

Even though he won, Bodhi admitted that he was not playing calmly so he lost momentum. Luckily he was able to overcome this and win the match within 43 minutes.

“In today’s match I did not play more calmly. When there were tight points, I could lose my focus so that the attacks launched were easy to read,” said Bodhi.

Bodhi’s passage to the round of 16 made the 18-year-old player start to get used to the arena. After the adaptation has been going well, runner up Alpes International U19 is determined to appear consistent.

Bodhi’s neat move was also followed by Alwi Farhan who in the round of 32 match successfully defeated India’s men’s singles, Samarveer.

In this men’s singles match, born in Solo, May 12, 2005, he admitted that he had difficulty adapting to the field conditions. Luckily in the middle of the half, his best performance was able to return after Alwi played more confidently and kept his focus.

“I had a hard time adapting because the field conditions were a lot of wind. How come it’s so hard to control? So I have to be more patient, “he said runner up The 2023 Osaka International Challenge.

With this win, the captain of the Indonesian team team will face Thailand’s representative, Wongsup Wongsup-In in the round of 16.

Entering the second round, Alwi was determined to stay focused, considering that if he made it to the quarterfinals, he would play twice in one day.
