Over the past two decades, they have observed color variations in the oceans that cannot be attributed solely to natural fluctuations. Astonishingly, this color change already affects 56 percent of Earth’s oceans, surpassing the total land area of ​​our planet.

“To actually see it happen for real is not surprising, but frightening. And these changes are consistent with human-caused climate change,” Dutkiewicz said in a press release.
