Nintendo Switch Stops Integration with X Twitter, Players Can No Longer Share Content

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – There is unpleasant news for Nintendo Switch users who like to share screenshots and videos of their gameplay on X or what was previously known as Twitter. Because Nintendo announced that it would stop integrating the Switch with social media.

Quoting information from GizmodoSunday (12/5/2024), the termination of integration between Nintendo Switch and Twitter will take place on June 10 2024. Therefore, after that date, Switch users will no longer be able to share content to X or Twitter directly.

With this announcement, the only option for sharing content that can be done directly is Facebook. However, Nintendo stated that this option could also potentially be discontinued in the future.

Meanwhile, for users who want to still share their gaming moments, Nintendo recommends connecting the Switch directly to a PC or sending it wirelessly to another device.

The termination of this integration also impacts popular hits such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Splatoon 2, and Splatoon 3. Because, several of these games previously had a special option to send tweets directly related to the game.

In addition, Switch users will no longer be able to send friend requests to social media, with this integration discontinued.

For your information, Nintendo is the last console manufacturer to stop supporting integration with X or Twitter. Previously, Microsoft did this first in April 2023, followed by Sony doing it with PlayStation in October last year.

One of the reasons cited for this decision is the increase in Twitter's API X access costs. Apart from that, there is the possibility that integration with social media will no longer be the main focus of groups such as Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo.
