Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Indonesia beat South Korea 3-1 and advanced to the semifinals of the Thomas Cup at the Hi Tech Zone Sports Center in Chengdu, China, Friday (3/5/2024). Indonesia's qualification for the semifinals of the 2024 Thomas Cup was confirmed through the sudden doubles of Fajar Alfian/Daniel Marthin who won 21-12, 21-13 over South Korean mainstays Ki Dong-ju/Kim Won-ho.
Previously, Indonesia's second singles player Jonatan Christie won a fierce match against Cho Geonyeop in the third match of the 2024 Thomas Cup quarter-finals. Jonatan Christie won with a score of 17-21, 21-17, 21-10.
In the second match, Korea equalized 1-1 after the duo Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana surrendered to Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae in the first doubles match in the 2024 Thomas Cup quarter-finals.
Appearing as the first doubles, Fikri/Bagus surrendered in two straight games 15-21, 12-21 in the Thomas Cup semifinals.
