Facing Man City, Ancelotti: Madrid is working to stop a team that seems unstoppable

– Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, insists his team will work to stop a team that seemed unstoppable against Manchester City.

Real Madrid will host Man City in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Tuesday (9/5/2023) or Wednesday early morning WIB starting at 02.00 WIB.

The Italian coach sees his opponent as more complete than last season’s team which was eliminated Los Blancosbut with the typical coaching traits of Pep Guardiola.

He admits that the biggest danger is Erling Haaland but he is confident his squad can neutralize the former Borussia Dortmund forward.

“This is a complete team playing very good football. We are working to stop a team that seems unstoppable,” Ancelotti said in his pre-match press conference.

“We will have chances. We are in good condition and are at the same level as last season,” said the former AC Milan coach.

“The most important thing is motivation, enthusiasm… Winning the Copa del Rey is a bonus.”

Luka Modric is expected to extend his contract at Madrid until the 2023/24 season, and the Italian confirmed the Croatian midfielder will start on Tuesday.

“He can play without any problems. He will play,” he continued.

Manchester City’s style has been criticized throughout this season, with some suggesting Erling Haaland’s presence has hampered the team’s fluidity, but the former Chelsea and Everton coach doesn’t believe that.

“This team is more complete than last year,” he concluded.

“They take advantage of their continuity,” he added.

“Their development is important for the future of this club, as well as tomorrow. Just like Camavinga and Valverde.”
